Giuncart

Crafts passed down for generations, from father to son, are invaluable cultural treasures, and Rome’s center is full of craftspeople still working today. Giuncart was started in 1960 by Mr. Mario Giovagnoli when he opened a small wicker and basket weaving workshop on Via del Pellegrino, and his son, Umberto, still runs it to this day. Full of objects made of wicker, rattan and cane, everything in Umberto’s shop, both new and vintage alike, has been made or repaired by his hand. From sun hats and handbags to laundry hampers, rug beaters and even wicker mannequins, Umberto has something for everyone. You won’t miss his shop as it is marked by a blue Ape Piaggo parked outside, overflowing with his wares.
